You the elect, the beloved, the enlightened, the untrammeled, les bénis parmi tous—you, I daresay, might very well take interest in these three upcoming events:
3-Week Online Course. The Neo-monastic group, the Order of St. Anthony, has graciously invited me to offer an overview of Maximus’s theological vision and its implications for spiritual life. It comprises three 1 1/2-hour live sessions on three consecutive Monday evenings (March 4, 11, & 18), 6:30-8pm (CST). See here.
8-Week Online Course. The Forging Ploughshares Bible Institute has likewise been duped, and so they also graciously invited me to offer a more in-depth, seminar-like course. The tentative but fairly certain plan is to have sessions on eight consecutive Saturday mornings, beginning March 30 and terminating May 18. Registration is not yet advertised, but when it is you’ll find it here.
Panel on Hell at CUA. In just a few weeks I am to participate in a “debate” or “panel” of sorts on Hell, universalism, and related matters. It’s sponsored by The Lamp Magazine and the Institute for Human Ecology, hosted at the Catholic University of America. I expect a cordial, serene, unhurried scene decked with Zen koans and wistful lucubrations of yesteryear. If you’re in D.C. on the eve of Thursday, February 29, come witness the invincible peace and sonorous harmony that is Catholic discourse on the last things. See here.
Loved the HELL NO debate! Jordan, your discussion of different developments in things like the death penalty and slaveholding really helped me see that the Catholic infernalist case might not be as strong in terms of claiming the dogmatic tradition as I once thought. Hope you post a "de-brief" of sorts on your experience.
I signed up for the three week course when I saw it announced on Chris's Substack.
